January has flown by and it’s been such a colourful, creative start to the year. From a brand-new pattern release to CAL excitement, secret projects, and crisp winter walks, here’s a little look at what I’ve been up to this month…
✨ Pattern Release: Magic Moss Stitch Shawl
We kicked the year off with a pattern release! The Magic Moss Stitch Shawl!
This design feels extra special as I made it using my yarn advent from the lovely Little Likac Yarn in the colourway A Very Austin Yuletide. I used all 24 mini skeins, each 20g of 4ply yarn, and absolutely loved watching the colours flow through the shawl as it grew.
It’s a really satisfying make and a beautiful way to use an advent set or mini skeins, whether you go bold, soft, or somewhere in between.
The pattern is available from:
🌼 A Year in Flowers – January Progress
I am completely in love with my A Year in Flowers temperature blanket already. I’m fully up to date with my flower motifs and it’s been so exciting to see how the changing temperatures are starting to creep into the colours.
To help me stay organised, I’ve decided to join my motifs at the end of each month, rather than leaving everything until the end of the year! Future me will definitely appreciate that!
I’ve also loved seeing all of your versions so far. The colour choices and early blooms are just beautiful 🌸
If you’d like to join in or start a little later, A Year in Flowers is still available to purchase from:
🌈 Bust the Blues CAL
Did you see my latest blanket CAL? How could you not!
The Bust the Blues CAL started on 27th January and is hosted by Black Sheep Wools. There are two cheerful colourway options using Stylecraft Special Aran, making it super cosy and perfect for winter stitching. It also works up really nicely, which is always a bonus for a blanket CAL.
You can find all the details and yarn packs here:
There’s still plenty of time to join in, so if you’re tempted, now’s the perfect moment to jump aboard 🧶💙
🤫 A Top-Secret Commission
This month I’ve also been working on a very exciting commission for Stylecraft Yarns! A top-secret CAL project that will be released later this year.
Working on this has been an absolute joy, but keeping it quiet is so hard! A sneak peek of little Alfie enjoying a ball of yarn as a cushion that I am using for the CAL! 👀🖤
I can’t wait to share more when the time is right!
💛 Life Lately & January Walks
Away from yarn, January has been a fairly quiet month. Very much a case of everyone getting back into a routine after the festive break.
- Katie headed back to uni
- Ems returned to school and is already knuckling down for her GCSEs this year
We kept up our yearly tradition with a trip to the local panto, and this year it was Aladdin – my absolute favourite! 🧞♂️✨
One particularly lovely highlight was Emily saying yes to the prom dress. What a special evening that was, helping her choose the dress for this year’s prom. She looked absolutely stunning, and it’s a memory I’ll treasure 💖
We’ve also enjoyed some beautiful January walks with the boys, Alfie and Marley 🐾. I really love this time of year for getting outside, the crisp mornings, fresh air, and bursts of winter sunshine have been the perfect antidote to busy days indoors.
Here are a few photos from our walks, muddy boots, wagging tails, and all 🍃🐶
✨ Looking Ahead
January has been such a lovely start to 2026, and I’m really excited to see what February brings! Hopefully a new pattern, lots more colour, and plenty more yarny goodness 🧶🌈
Thank you so much for being here and following along, here’s to another creative month ahead!
