June has been one of those months where it might not have looked quite as busy on social media, but behind the scenes it has been full steam ahead! π§Άβ¨
I’ve been working away on several secret projects, planning future designs, testing new ideas and fitting in plenty of crochet along the way. There have been some lovely highlights too, including a trip to Stylecraft headquarters, finishing a special blanket project, launching a new Facebook group and even reaching a huge Instagram milestone π
Here’s a little look at what I’ve been up to this month…
π§Ά A Day at Stylecraft Headquarters
One of the absolute highlights of June was being invited to visit Stylecraft headquarters alongside the other Stylecraft Ambassadors and Insiders.
We were given an exclusive preview of some of the new yarns and products launching later this year and even got the opportunity to sample them ourselves. It was such a lovely day catching up with everyone, talking yarn, crochet and all things crafty.
I’m keeping the details under wraps for now, but trust me when I say there are some gorgeous new products on the way! π§Άβ¨
β€οΈπ©΅ Poppy Blanket… Finished! π©΅β€οΈ
This month also saw the completion of my Poppy Blanket.
Made using the beautiful Hobbii Universe yarn, this has been such a special project to revisit. I loved watching all those colourful granny circles come together once again and seeing the blanket grow square by square.
All of the granny circles were finally squared off and then joined together, which has always been my favourite part of blanket making. There’s something so satisfying about seeing all those individual pieces become one finished blanket.
This has definitely been one of those projects I’ve picked up whenever I wanted a few relaxing stitches with no deadlines or pressure attached to it π

π A Little Raffia Make
I also shared a little summer make this month that has already earned a place in my holiday suitcase βοΈπ©·
I spotted something similar whilst out and about and immediately thought, “I can make one of those!” π
So out came the hook and some gorgeous raffia yarn from Wool and the Gang, and before long this cute little summer pouch was born.
It’s the perfect size for my phone, sunglasses and suncream, making it ideal for holidays and days out. Of course, I couldn’t resist adding a little flower charm to finish it off πΈ
Sometimes it’s nice to step away from blankets and larger projects and make something small, practical and fun.
π§Ά Giving Yarn a Second Life
One of the posts that seemed to spark lots of conversation this month was my colourful charity shop jumper find π
I spotted this bright jumper in a charity shop and couldn’t leave it behind. The funny thing is there was absolutely nothing wrong with the yarn itself, it’s usually the unraveling process that puts people off!
I’ve always loved the idea of giving yarn a second life. Whether it’s an old jumper, a forgotten project or something that no longer gets worn, there can be so much potential hiding in those stitches π§Άβ¨
So this month I started the process of unraveling it ready for a future crochet project. There is something incredibly satisfying about watching the stitches disappear and seeing all that lovely yarn appear again.
I’ve also been trying something new that’s helping make the unraveling process much quicker and easier, and I’m looking forward to sharing more about that very soon π
Who knows what this colourful yarn might become!
πΏ My Summer Crochet Corner
With the warmer weather finally arriving, I’ve spent quite a bit of time in the garden this month.
The borders are blooming, the pots are looking colourful and my little crochet corner is all ready for summer. There is nothing quite like sitting outside with a crochet project, a cup of tea and a bit of sunshine.
Of course, Marley and Alfie have been making the most of the garden too and I’ve loved sharing photos of them enjoying the sunshine alongside my crochet projects πΎβοΈ
β¨ Emily’s Prom
One of the biggest highlights of June had nothing to do with crochet at all… Emily’s prom π
I honestly can’t believe we’re already at this stage. It only feels like five minutes ago she was starting secondary school, and suddenly there she was all dressed up and ready for prom.
She looked absolutely stunning and she had such a lovely evening celebrating with her friends. Watching her get ready and seeing how excited she was made me feel incredibly proud.
It was definitely one of those special family moments I’ll remember for a very long time π
π 50,000 Instagram Followers
Wow… where do I even start with this one? π₯Ήπ
This month I reached 50,000 followers on Instagram.
Honestly, when I first started sharing my crochet projects online all those years ago, I never imagined that one day 50,000 people would choose to follow along on my little crochet journey.
Whether you’ve been here from the beginning or only recently found my page, thank you. Thank you for every like, comment, message, pattern purchase and kind word over the years. Your support allows me to keep designing, creating and sharing what I love most π§Άβ¨
Reaching this milestone felt even more special because, like many creators, I’ve had moments recently where social media has felt a little frustrating. So seeing that number tick over to 50,000 was a lovely reminder of the amazing crochet community we have built together.
Thank you for being part of it π
π§Ά Emkat Crochet Club
This month I also launched my brand new Facebook group, Emkat Crochet Club π
The idea behind the group was to create a little corner of the internet where I can share more of the day-to-day crochet life that doesn’t always make it onto my main social media pages.
You’ll find sneak peeks of upcoming designs, works in progress, behind-the-scenes updates, yarny chat and all sorts of crochet goodness π
I’m currently sharing a special make I’m working on for my daughter, along with some of the projects currently on my hook.
If you’d like to join us, you can find the group here:

It’s already growing into such a lovely, friendly community and I’d love to see you there π§Άβ¨
β¨ Looking Ahead
June has been packed with crochet, family milestones, exciting opportunities and plenty of behind-the-scenes work.
I’m looking forward to sharing more secret projects soon, showing you what becomes of that charity shop yarn and seeing what July brings.
As always, thank you so much for your support, your messages and your kindness. It really does mean the world π
